It took place on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York on Long Island, marking the company's first PPV to be held in the state of New York. The event featured the final of the inaugural Continental Classic to crown the inaugural AEW Continental Champion, and subsequently, AEW's first "American Triple Crown Champion." In the main event, CM Punk defeated Jon Moxley to win the AEW World Championship for a second time. Chris Jericho also won a match against Bryan Danielson, The Elite defeated "Hangman" Adam Page and The Dark Order to win the inaugural AEW World Trios Championship, and MJF made a surprise return and won the Casino Ladder match. The event received mixed to positive reviews and was also notable for a post-show altercation between CM Punk, The Elite, and Ace Steel, leading to suspensions and the stripping of championships.

Ring of Honor: Survival of the Fittest 2017 was a three-night professional wrestling event. It featured the 12th Survival of the Fittest tournament, where winners from designated matches on Nights 1 and 2 advanced to a 6-Man Elimination Match on Night 3. The winner of the final match was declared the Survivor of the Fittest and earned a future ROH World Championship match. Notable participants included Cheeseburger, Silas Young, Shane Taylor, Punishment Martinez, and Matt Taven. The show took place on July 2, 2017 in Long Beach, California at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center. NJPW crowned its inaugural IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion as the semifinals and finals of the IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion tournament culminate. Also, Billy Gunn faced Hiroshi Tanahashi for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship. The event's name refers to the annual G1 Climax tournament as these shows also served as a prelude to the 2017 G1 Climax.

It was the sixth event under the Power Struggle name and featured ten matches, main evented by Tetsuya Naito defending the IWGP Intercontinental Championship against Jay Lethal.
