Clement Freud returns to his Devon boarding school. Escaping from Nazi Germany in 1934 with his parents, the eight-year-old future writer, broadcaster and politician arrived in Britain, and despite speaking no English was promptly dispatched to Darlington School, where he was ruthlessly bullied.
